Given two representations $Γ : 𝐺 \to G L (𝑉)$ and $˜ Γ : 𝐺 \to G L (𝑊)$ , the direct sum $Γ \oplus ˜ Γ : 𝐺 \to G L (𝑉 \oplus 𝑊)$ is defined using the Direct sum of linear maps as
